Please read text below for explanations and more detailed information you will need to make proper selections

You may not need both wall outlet adapters shown above depending on whether the plugs on your appliances are grounded (3 pins) or ungrounded (2 pins). You can order just grounded plug adapters here and ungrounded plug adapters here. REMEMBER: PLUG ADAPTERS ALONE DO NOT CHANGE THE VOLTAGE! To change the voltage you need either a voltage converter or a transformer.

Most countries will only have one grounded plug adapter and one ungrounded plug adapter listed but there are some countries that, for a variety of historical and political reasons, have multiple configurations. Thus, you will see more than one grounded plug adapter and more than one ungrounded plug adapter listed. In these cases we have bundled these plug adapters and we offer them with a discounted price but you can still buy the individual grounded plug adapters here as well as the individual ungrounded plug adapters here. International plug adapter kits are available as are voltage converter / plug adapter kits.

The voltage in most countries outside of North America is somewhere between 220 volts and 240 volts or even 250 volts in a few countries as you can see in our World Electricity Guide. To step down the voltage when traveling overseas for your 120 volt appliances or to step up the voltage when you are visiting North America with a 220 volt appliance you can use one of these step up / step down transformers. We also have a large selection of dual voltage appliances that you can use anywhere in the world with just an ungrounded plug adapter.

If you intend to stay connected and go online via the internet, the telephone outlets in countries outside of North America often require a telephone plug adapter also. For your convenience we have The World Telephone Guide, a list of all of the countries of the world and the telephone plug adapters required for each. We also have telephone plug adapter kits, telephone line testers to protect your electronic equipment from a wrong connection, and a tax impulse filter to help keep you from being disconnected while in some foreign countries.

If your laptop, digital camera and camcorder chargers, or other equipment is multi-voltage it can be plugged into most outlets in the world with just a wall outlet plug adapter, grounded (3 pin) or ungrounded (2 pin). Most multi-voltage equipment will state somewhere on the product, usually on a label or decal on the charging unit, " input 100-240 AC 50-60 HZ ". Some will only say " 110 or 120 – 220 or 240 volts". These are somewhat limited as to where they can be used. For instance, if the lower number isn't 100 then the appliance can't be safely used in Japan where the voltage is 100 volts.

Whenever you use your multi-voltage electronic equipment in a high voltage country with a surge protector you can't use the 120 volt surge protector from home. You will need one rated for 250 volts. We have a complete line of 240 volt surge protectors. These surge protectors have extremely high UL ratings (and great pricing). We even have one that is very compact with some exceptional features.
