These
converters can be used only for ungrounded appliances (2 pins on
the plug) and only with "electric" (never "electronic")
appliances, that is, appliances that are used for heating purposes
and/or use "universal" motors (curling irons, hair
dryers, steam inhalers, bottle warmers, irons, etc).
These
are simple voltage converters that don't produce a "full sine
wave" electrical output and are not designed for "continuous
duty", should only be used for short periods of time (we
recommend less than 45 - 60 minutes as they start to heat up after
that time interval), and they must always be
unplugged from the wall when not in use.
Our grounded step down
transformers and step up / step down transformers don't have any
of the limitations and restrictions of the simple converters
because they do produce a "full sine wave"
electrical output. The TA-50A model shown below is a
true transformer and is rated for continuous duty because it
produces a full sine wave output, and can be used
with electronics (under 50 watts). It is only listed here with the other simple voltage converters because of its compact size, weight and because you can only use ungrounded appliances with it. |
